Bertha is a hurricane and the RGV is in for a really hot stretch

Hurricane Bertha continues to chug north, at 18mph, parallel to the U.S. east coast with winds of 75mph. keeping the storm a category one. Bertha is expected to stay a hurricane through Tuesday before it is downgraded to tropical storm strength on Wednesday.
Meanwhile back in the valley, temperatures will soar each day to near or just past 100 degrees and the heat index will top out near 108. Southeast winds will increase to near 20mph by Wednesday and last through the end of the week.
There is no significant chance for rain in the valley forecast through early next week.
