More wind and dust in the forecast

Keep those tissues handy again Friday as strong southeast winds will kick up another plume of dust across the upper valley; anyone who suffers from asthma or allergies knows the routine.

A large storm system developing in the southern Plains and high pressure moving east of the valley are working together to generate aggressive southeast winds across the Rio Grande Valley again Friday and even through Saturday.

The winds will be strong enough, 20 to 30mph with gusts near 40mph, to pick up plenty of dirt and dust from the fields and carry it across the mid to upper valley.

Coming from the southeast the wind is blowing more off the Gulf waters than the land as it travels across the lower valley but farther inland the breeze has more time over the dusty fields.
