Sweeping change with a cold front today

A major cold front is slipping south across Texas firing up showers and thunderstorms while ushering in gusty north winds on the back side.

This cold front is expected to slice south through the Rio Grande Valley between Noon and 2pm today.

Everyone in the RGV will have a chance for rain and thunderstorms as the front passes but the best opportunity will be along the coast and offshore where the environment is more hospitable for rain development.

A wind advisory will be in effect behind the cold front from 2p--8p as northerly winds will be blowing from 20 to 30mph with higher gusts near 35mph.
