That tropical low in the eastern Gulf of Mexico is now tropical storm Andrea.
This storm is 688 miles east of Brownsville and will keep moving north/northeast toward the west coast of Florida just south of Tallahassee. Andrea should push across the Peninsula Friday and Saturday.
Andrea is not expected to reach hurricane status.
The only effect felt here in the Rio Grande Valley will be above normal high temperatures resulting from the sinking air on the far west side of the storm. No word yet if Andrea will have enough punch to stir up aggressive surf along our coast.
