Edinburg residents will have to be just a little bit more patient.
A Chick-Fil-A restaurant is planned for West University Drive just across the UTPA campus.
But the restaurant will not be ready for the public until August or September 2014.
The restaurant will be the first full stand-alone Chick-Fil-A for Edinburg.
There is a Chick-Fil-A inside the UTPA Student Union building but the new restaurant will be more accessible.
Agustin "Gus" Garcia with the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation said the restaurant is just one of many things to come.
According to the 2010 Census, Edinburg grew to 77,100 residents making it the third largest city in the Rio Grande Valley.
Garcia said more retail stores and restaurants will be coming to Edinburg.
As of March 2013, Chick-fil-A has more than 1,700 restaurants in 39 states and Washington, D.C. and will open 85 stand-alone restaurants and 17 licensee locations in 2013.
There are currently seven Chick-Fil-A restaurants in the Valley with an eighth one expected to be opened in Weslaco in March 2014.
