Cameron County judge runoff election heating up
Fri, 09 May 2014 04:01:32 GMT —
Election season is still not over for two men in Cameron County.
Longtime attorney Ruben Pena and Cameron County Clerk Joe Rivera are in a runoff to represent the Democratic Party in the county judge's race.
Rivera was only able to interview over the phone when we reached out to him saying He (Pena) has run for several offices and lost every time.
Both men say the runoff has been a clean race, but they both had something to say about each other which can be expected in any political arena.
I TMm not a career politician|it TMs time to change that, said Pena.
Pena says he's already looking at November and the race to unseat incumbent judge Carlos Cascos.
But Rivera is confident he will be the one taking on Cascos in the general election.
Two well known candidates with plenty of ideas for Cameron County will have to wait a few more weeks to find out who continues the fight to the finish, and it's all up to the voters, which traditionally don't show up in a big way to the polls in runoff elections.
