101-year-old woman performs to Christmas hits
Anna Mae Brown was one of the oldest to perform Christmas hits at Valley Grande Manor, a rehabilitation center in Weslaco.
Brown is 101 years old and will turn 102 next February.
Many may wonder how Brown manages to keep up with choreography at 101 years old, but as Brown explains, it is easier than one may think.
"Just being active and being useful, you know, to love people and walk with them and tell them there's a greater place,” said Brown. “Why don't they turn their hearts around and smile anyway whether they want it or not.”
Brown says she’s been active her whole life.
"Miss Brown never misses any of her workouts at all,” said group fitness instructor Diana Galvan. “She's there every single day with a big smile. She's very coordinated. Her memory is amazing.”
Brown lives with a caregiver due to her trouble with hearing, and has tips for those taking care of seniors like her.
"Well, I just smile at them, mostly, and I start with a smile with anything,” said Brown. “And then you say, 'I love you' and give them some hugs and let them know there is something to live for."
