Harlingen Police Sgt. David Osborne speaks about the robbery

A bank robbery suspect remains behind bars under a $101,000 bond after facing a judge in Harlingen.

Harlingen police arrested Joe Wayne Galipp on a robbery charge early Monday afternoon.

Galipp is accused of robbing the Bank Of America in downtown Harlingen.

Police officers arrested him blocks away with $8,260 in stolen cash.

Galipp appeared before a Harlingen Municipal Court on Tuesday morning where he was issued a $101,000 bond.

Court records show Galipp was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 1993 robbery but was paroled in February 2011.

Harlingen police said they will submit the case to federal prosecutors because bank robbery is a federal crime.
