At least 18 illegal immigrants have been rescued after receiving a tip that they were being held for ransom.
Mission police told Action 4 News that people in Gautemala called reporting that their family member was being held against their will.
They traced the call to a cell phone coming out of a home on the 5800 block of Moorefield Road.
Mission police, Border Patrol and Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies showed up around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
They found 18 undocumented immigrants from Guatemala inside.
Some of them were eating, so they let them finish before taking them in for processing.
They arrested two men and one woman who were allegedly holding them there against their will.
They also found log books writing how much money they were owed for each immigrant.
Police are classifying the operation as part of organized crime, but they would not go into details.
The two men and woman are expected to face several charges.
