At least 191 inmates have escaped from a prison in Nuevo Laredo on Friday morning.
The El Universal newspaper reported that the prisoners broke out of the Centro de Ejecuciones de Sanciones (CEDES) just past 10 a.m. Friday.
The local police confirmed that 191 prisoners had escaped so far, but that number could be higher.
In the meantime, police started searching the area for the prisoners.
Back in September, 85 prisoners escaped form the CEDES in Reynosa allegedly using a ladder.
The prison TMs director and 44 guards were arrested following the escape.
Back in March, another 41 inmates escaped from another prison in Matamoros.
Mexican authorities filed criminal charges against 50 jail guards while the prison director remains missing.
