3-year-old sexually assaulted by man mother met online

A 3-year-old victim was sexually assaulted by Mathew James Salinas, a man her mother had met on the Internet.

The mother had met Salinas four days before he moved in with the her and her daughter at the end of January.

The victim first made the complaint to her grandmother in February that Salinas has touched her.

He told the deputy that he had only touched her because she had complained about her waistline hurting claiming her pants were on too tight.

The 3-year-old gave detailed statements to a Forensic Interviewer at Maggie's House in San Benito and to a Sexual Assault Medical Examiner about where Salinas touched her also claiming her mother had been around when he did.

Salinas was charged with Aggravated Assault of a Child and his bond was set at $40,000.
