$500,000 bond for convenience store robber

Police have identified the man who robbed a Harlingen convenience store at knifepoint.
Juan Olea Rivera has been charged with first degree aggravated robbery.
He walked into the Stripes Convenience store on the 600 block of West Harrison Ave wearing a backpack.
The clerk dialed 911 because Rivera appeared as if he were up to something, according to police.
The clerk did not speak to dispatch, but left the phone off the hook the entire incident.
Rivera approached him with a knife demanding money. As he ran out of the store, the clerk grabbed his backpack causing Rivera t ofall to the ground.
Police were able to respond immediately to the scene and take the 37-year-old into custody.
The injuries sustained to his face were during his fall, according to police.
Rivera TMs bond was set at $500,000.
