$500,000 bond for San Juan who tried stab ex-wife to death

A San Juan man accused of trying to kill his ex-wife has traded a hospital bed for a jail cell.

Jose Luis Canamar faced a judge with bandages covering his neck during a Tuesday afternoon arraignment.

San Juan polic charged the 37-year-old man with attempted murdered and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Investigators said Canamar was drunk when he allegedly stabbed his wife 24 times just days before their divorce was supposed to be finalized.

Canamar tried to injure himself in the neck but was released from the hospital while ex-wife remains in the ICU.
