A Brownsville man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing a young girl he met at a local church.
Brownsville police arrested 34-year-old Guillermo Estrada Sandoval on multiple criminal charges on Friday.
Investigators told Action 4 news that Sandoval met the girl at a local church last year.
Police did not identify the church but said it was on 100 block of North Central Avenue.
The girl was 12 years old at the time of the abuse and told police that Sandoval communicated with her via text messages.
Sandoval is accused of using those text messages to lure the girl to sexually abuse her.
Officers charged Sandoval on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Sandoval appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Saturday morning where he was issued a $600,000 dollar bond.
As of Monday morning, Sandoval remained in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
