Affidavit: Man goes ~crazy TM and tries to stab victim while barbequing

A suspect has been arrested after the victim told authorities a man went crazy, jumped on him and then tried to stab him.

Esteban Steve Gonzalez was arrested on Saturday, June 7, 2014 around 6:35 in the evening.

The alleged aggravated assault happened in Santa Rosa when the victim of the alleged assault was cooking out.

Cameron County Sheriff TMs Department responded to the call, and the victim told authorities Gonzalez punched and pushed him.

Gonzalez is accused of trying to stab him with a 6 1/2 inch knife.

That TMs when the victim went inside his home.

Gonzalez then tried to stab him with another knife, according to an affidavit obtained by Action 4 News.

Authorities noted they saw the victim show signs of assault such as a torn shirt, and he feared for his safety.

Gonzalez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and he was transported to the Cameron County Jail.

His bond is currently set at $40,000 for the charge.
