Records: Trooper finds 188 pounds of marijuana inside Rio Grande City woman's vehicle

A state trooper found more than 188 pounds of marijuana inside a Rio Grande City woman's vehicle on Sunday, according to a criminal complaint.

The seizure occurred after the trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Cadillac SUV for a window tint violation. According to the criminal complaint, the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and asked the driver, 43-year-old Rosabel Muñoz of Rio Grande City, if she had anything illegal.

According to the criminal complaint:

"Muñoz admitted she had marihuana (sic) inside the vehicle."

The trooper seized 17 bundles of marijuana, which totaled 188.9 pounds, and arrested Muñoz.

Muñoz was charged with possession of marijuana>50LBS<=2,000LBS, according to Hidalgo County jail records.

Muñoz was released from the Hidalgo County jail on Monday and couldn't be reached for comment.
