Aircraft with 158 people on board makes emergency landing
An Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) aircraft that had just taken off from Valley International Airport in Harlingen turns back after reports of smoke in the cockpit.
According to VIA Communications Director Jose Mullet, shortly after take off the pilot radioed in saying he "smelled smoke, or like something was burning."
The aircraft was turned around and crews on ground prepared for an emergency landing.
About 5 minutes after the call came in, Mullet says the craft landed safely.
All 158 people on board were not injured.
Harlingen firefighters, which were on stand by for the landing, are currently inspecting the plane.
