Inside room 3130 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg is a patient with a huge heart.
"Zulema... It's Ryan Wolf with Action 4 News," Ryan said as he walked inside the room.
"Hi!" Zulema Ruiz said with a big smile.
"You look surprised to see me," Ryan said next.
"Yes I am!" she said.
Zulema Ruiz doesn TMt know but she TMs been nominated for the Pay it 4Ward prize.
Her friends say she carries out random acts of kindness.
From fundraisers to babysitting for free, Zulema is considered to be a constant source of inspiration who never expects anything in return.
But the 40-year-old from Alamo needs help now more than ever.
A recent breast cancer survivor, Zulema's been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
She still wants to give.
"The stories that I've heard have just touched me in ways I cannot even explain," Ryan said.
"Thank you," she said.
"But I want the person who told me about you to share with you why you're so important to her. Is it okay for me to do that?" Ryan asked.
"Yes," she said with a surprised look on her face.
Carmen Elizondo nominated Zulema for the Pay it 4Ward prize.
She walked into the hospital room with tears already in her eyes.
"I'm here to thank you for everything that you've done for me and my kids," she told her friend. "You know everything that I go through. How I need my family and mom who's not around. You've always picked me up. You've always told me to stay strong. You've tried whenever you can to help me out even though you're in the situation that you're in."
"I never gave up on you guys," Zulema told her.
"And you better not give up on us now," Carmen said in response. "I brought Ryan here today because I want to Pay it 4Ward."
The nomination comes with a $400 cash prize provided by Karen Gonzalez with FNB Insurance Agency who TMs also in the room.
"You've been such an inspiration to so many people," she told Zulema. "And we're honored to be able to celebrate you today. So on behalf of FNB Insurance and Action 4 News here's $400."
The incredible honor helps to put Zulema's mind at ease.
She explains why.
"It's just beautiful," she said. "Emotional. I cannot believe that I'm loved somewhere out there."
Zulema vows to continue her fight and her love for others.
"Even throughout this journey that I TMve been going through nothing ever stopped me," she said.
Zulema will be heading to Houston to continue with her cancer treatment.
Ryan made her promise that she'll use her Pay it 4Ward prize to buy something special for herself along the way.
"You bet I will!" she said.
