Authorities are investigating a rollover accident that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man just south of Arroyo City.

It all happened on FM 1847 just north of FM 106 at 2:24 a.m. Monday.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the fatal accident.

State troopers reported that 25-year-old Jesse Edward Clive III was killed and a female passenger was injured.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Clive was headed north in a 2003 Honda Civic when he lost control.

The car veered into the southbound lane but Clive allegedly overcorrected sending the car into a utility pole and a rollover accident.

State troopers reported that Clive died at the scene.

Paramedics rushed his passenger to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen where she was listed with no major injuries.

State troopers believe speed and alcohol played a factor in the fatal wreck but investigators are waiting on lab results.

Court records show that Clive served in the military but had a criminal history involving resisting arrest and intoxication assault.

Clive served close to two years in prison for the April 2010 intoxication assault case from Brownsville.

Records show that Clive served his prison sentence and completed his parole in May.
