Authorities raid the American Legion in Port Isabel as part of an 18-month long investigation to dismantle illegal 8-liners in Cameron County.
The District Attorney's Office told Action 4 News they seized 27 gambling devices and $606 in cash from the establishment on Thursday.
American Legion is located on the 800 block of Garcia Street in Port Isabel.
"The American legion has been warned numerous times and were provided an opportunity to previously close its illegal gambling operation" District Attorney Luis V. Saenz said.
"Yet the establishment continued to operate...blatantly breaking the law".
No arrests were made, but the property owner remains under investigation.
The raid is part of Operation Bishop which has focused on shutting down and raiding 8-liner and sweepstakes businesses that are operating illegally.
