Pulitzer prize-winning journalist and immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas has been released from border patrol custody, an organization he is associated with said.
Vargas was detained at the McAllen airport while trying to board plane headed to Los Angeles.
Vargas illegally immigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines when he was a child.
He directed the CNN Film Documented, which aired in June highlighting the immigration system in the U.S.
He last Tweeted, The only IDs I have for security, Philippine passport and my pocketbook US Constitution... before being detained by border patrol.
