Amnesty Program being offered in Weslaco
Tue, 27 Apr 2010 03:43:09 GMT —
The city of Weslaco is preparing to do some spring cleaning by dusting off unpaid traffic tickets and warrants, but they're not picking up offenders and sending them straight to jail.
"We'll work with you so we can get this behind you," said Carlos Garza, Weslaco Presiding Judge.
Next week, Judge Carlos Garza is starting an amnesty program.
The program will wave failure to appear fees as long as you go to the Weslaco Municipal Court and make arrangements.
Not taking advantage of this program could not only cost you up to 2 hundred dollars in fees but also time behind bars.
"Some of the best police officers in Texas are right here in Weslaco, and they will pick these people up," said Garza.
The program ends May 31.
"Don't wait until you're in a backseat of a unit requesting your one phone call," said Garza.
The Weslaco Municipal Court is located at 901 North Airport Drive.
