Authorities $462,000 inside cars belonging to jailed Zetas leader

      Sergio Mora-Cortes

Mexican marines reported finding more than $462,000 dollars inside one of two cars belong to a jailed Zetas cartel leader.

The Mexican Navy reported that the seizure was made shortly following the arrest of Zetas leader Sergio Mora-Cortes, who is also known as "El Toto."

Marines arrested Mora-Cortes during a special operation involving two military helicopters in Saltillo, Coahuila over the weekend.

Authorities seized two cars at the scene but allegedly found $462,290 dollars in a hidden compartment under the seat of a Dodge Ram 4000 belonging to Mora-Cortes.

The Mexican Navy reports that the money was likely going to be used as payment for a shipment of drugs.

Mora-Cortes is one of the top Zetas in the State of San Luis Potosi where U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata was killed back in mid-February.
