Hidalgo County leaders said they can take no further action against a deputy chief who allegedly hazed two female reserve deputy constables.
But authorities are now saying that there is no proof to support that the alleged hazing incident happened.
It all started from an anonymous email sent to the Hidalgo County Safety Division.
The email read that on May 1st, Pct. 5 Chief Deputy Constable Felix Ramos made two female reserve deputies do pushups on hot pavement in a parking lot but not the male reserves.
They allegedly felt humiliated.
County leaders looked into the incident while Pct 5. Constable Daniel Marichalar stripped Ramos of power over other deputies as the investigation developed.
But on Thursday morning, county leaders dismissed the claims.
In a statement, leaders said they met with the two reserve deputies who denied the claims that they had been hazed.
The county decided to take no further action and to leave the matter to Constable Marichalar.
The constable refused to go on camera but added that he too will not take any further action.
