Authorities increase reward for 'Most Wanted' Edinburg man

Authorities are increasing a reward for an Edinburg man wanted for a fatal stabbing in Harlingen.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is now offering $12,500 dollars for the arrest of Ernesto Alonzo Garcia.

The 28-year-old Texas Syndicate member is on the Texas Top 10 Most Wanted list for for murder and aggravated assault charges.

Investigators said Garcia stabbed two men in Harlingen in March of this year. One of the victims died while the other survived.

According to DPS records, Garcia is a Mexican national but is listed as a permanent resident alien of the United States.

Garcia was wanted for a marijuana trafficking case from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) at the of the Harlingen stabbing.

Records show that he he goes by "Rooster" or "Gallito" or about 96 other aliases.

Garcia is to be considered armand and dangerous but anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call DPS at 1-800-252-TIPS.
