A babysitter is out on bond after authorities reported that a 2-year-old girl that she was supposed to watching was found crying and wandering the streets alone.
Edinburg police arrested 32-year-old Jessica Rodriguez on a child endangerment charge early Friday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a couple was driving on the 600 block of North 8th Street when they found a 2-year-old girl crying and alone around 3 a.m. Friday.
Police canvassed the area but could not locate the girl's parents.
Child Protective Services took custody of the girl and placed her in emergency foster care.
About four to five hours later, Edinburg police learned that Rodriguez was the girl's babysitter and that the girl had walked out of the front door of her North 6th Street home.
Rodriguez was released from the Hidalgo County Jail after posting a $1,000 dollar bond on Saturday.
