Two alleged members of the Texas Syndicate are behind bars for the murder of a man defending his teen daughter at a baptism party.
Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Office deputies reported Jorge A. Martinez and Jesus Torres are behind bars on murder charges.
The two men are accused of fatally stabbing Lee Roy Berrones at an apartment complex east of Edinburg late Sunday night.
Berrones died while undergoing surgery at a hospital in Edinburg.
Family members said two the men got upset when Berrones asked one of them to stop talking to his teenage daughter.
Witnesses told deputies that Torres held Berrones from behind while Martinez stabbed him.
Investigators said the two men are members of the Texas Syndicate prison gang while Berrones belonged to the Vallucos gang.
The incident is not classified as gang-related but deputies reported that Martinez-Romero and Torres are criminal illegal immigrants.
Both Martinez and Torres are to be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
