Cameron County officials have shut down several beach accesses because of rising water on South Padre Island due to swells from Tropical Depression 10.
Emergency Management Coordinator Humberto Barrerea tells Action 4 News, Beach Accesses 5 and 6, as well as Boca Chica Beach, will remain closed until further notice.
Right now, water is already higher than usual in those spots and is expected to possibly rise further as the tropical depression gains strength while approaching the Mexican coast.
In addition, rough surf and dangerous rip currents will create dangerous and unfavorable conditions for swimmers.
National Weather Service has already issued a Coastal Flood Watch scheduled to go into effect Saturday.
