Beer bottles found in man TMs car after crashing into police unit

A man is jailed after he allegedly crashed into a police car while he was drunk.
The accident happened early Sunday morning as San Benito police were investigating an auto-pedestrian crash on Expressway 83.
Police said Eric Damian Dominguez was driving towards the exit ramp off FM 509.
An officer saw Dominguez drive in the center lane, not paying attention to the police car TMs lights.
Dominguez crashed into the police unit, hitting the front tire area and causing the air bags to deploy.
The 34-year-old suffered scratches on his left arm and wrist, but refused medical attention.
Authorities detected alcohol from Dominguez TMs breath, and found multiple bottles of beer inside his vehicle.
A criminal history check showed that this wasn TMt the first time Dominguez had allegedly driven drunk.
His driver TMs license was suspended and he had been arrested for DWI three times before.
Xanax pills were also found in Dominguez TMs possession.
He was transported to the Harlingen Medical Center for a blood draw, and then taken to the city jail.
Judge Benjamin Yudesis arraigned the 34-year-old and charged him with driving while intoxicated a fourth offense, possession of a controlled substance and driving while license suspended.
His bond was set at $55,000.
