Blowtorch blamed in rural fire east of Edinburg

      Structure fire east of Edinburg

Authorities believe a worker's blowtorch may have caused a fire that burned a building down to the ground just east of Edinburg.

It all happened in a rural neighborhood off Rogers Road and Esperanza Street just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the fire consumed a work building, pallettes and other materials.

No injuries were reported from the fire but authorities confirmed that neighbors down the street had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
