Body found in Edinburg by concerned citizen

A body has been found in Edinburg after a concerned citizen called authorities.

Edinburg police responded to a call of foul odor yesterday around 5 p.m. on the 2800 block of East University.

The concerned citizen, who made the call, found the dead body and waiting for police to arrive at the scene.

Investigators said the body is in the early stages of decomposition making it difficult to determine if there was any trauma to the victim.

At this time, detectives said the victim is an adult male and that the case is being investigated as a homicide until further notice.

An autopsy is pending to find out the cause of death and if foul play may have been a factor.
