Crime scene at the Comfort Suites on South Padre Island

Authorities are investigating the death of a Spring Breaker whose body was found inside a South Padre Island hotel room.

It all happened at the Comfort Suites at 912 Padre Boulevard just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Both South Padre Island paramedics and police are at the scene.

City spokeswoman Naida Robles said authorities were originally dispatched to the hotel for a "person not breathing" call.

Robles said investigators arrived and found the body of a 23-year-old college student from New Jersey inside the hotel room.

The man's identity was not immediately available and it's not clear how he died but foul play is not suspected.

According to preliminary reports, the man have consumed illegal drugs before his death.

Cameron County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Bennie Ochoa was called to the scene and ordered an autopsy to learn more about the man's cause of death.
