Botched robbery outside Weslaco gas station ends with arrest

A knife-wielding suspect is behind bars following a botched robbery attempt at a gas station in Weslaco.

Investigators confirmed that that incident happened at the Valero gas station at 3225 E. Expressway 83 just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said an elderly man was paying for gas and when he walked out of the store, a man asked him for $2.

The man was handing him $1 but the beggar argued with him and wanted more money.

When the man didn TMt hand over the money the suspect pulled out a knife and tried to stab him.

The victim fought back and only sustained scratches.

The suspect ran towards the "America TMs Best Value Inn" where police arrested him.

      The incident remains under investigation.
