A Harlingen woman is behind bars after she stole a box of Bounce dryer sheets valued at $3.19, according to Harlingen police.
A theft was reported at the Stripes on the 600 block of North 1st Street in Harlingen.
According to the clerk at the store, the woman took the dryer sheets and walked out of Stripes without paying for them.
After a Harlingen Police Department officer reviewed the video, he immediately recognized the woman.
A background check revealed that the suspect, Jeanette Garza Gomez, had four previous theft convictions.
Due to the four convictions, the 29-year-old faces a felony theft charge after stealing the Bounce dryer sheets.
Under Texas state law, theft suspects with two or more prior convictions may face higher charges regardless of the value of what they stole.
Court records show Gomez has previously been arrested for assault and possession of marijuana.
The four theft charges date back to 2006.
She was arrested on Thursday, August 15, and her bond was set at $40,000.
