Broken cop car window adds to burglary suspects charges

      A 25-year-old was arrested for not only burglarizing a home, but for attempting to escape police custody in San Benito.

      While being loaded into a patrol unit, Juan Balderas broke the car TMs rear window by kicking it.

      According to police, Balderas continued to struggle with the officer for a few minutes before being taken to the city jail.

      The 25-year-old was a suspect to a burglary that happened at a home on Charlotte Street.

      San Benito police received the call about the burglary around 9:48 a.m. on Thursday.

      When authorities arrived on the scene, they found the home had a broken window and electronics scattered outside.

      A description of the suspected burglar was sent out.

      Officers spotted Balderas, who matched the suspect TMs descriptions, a few streets away.

      He was charged with burglary of habitation, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

      His bonds totaled $65,000.
