Brownsville couple accused of sexually abusing girl

Adan Mireles and Brenda Castellano

A grand jury has indicted a Brownsville couple for sexually abusing a girl more than three years ago.

Both Adan Alejandro Mireles and Brenda Castellano remain in custody for their roles in the case.

Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies took Castellano into custody on Monday.

Brownsville police had arrested Mireles back in late July.

Investigators are remaining tight-lipped about the sexual abuse investigation but an August 14th indictment revealed that the crime took place in Brownsville back in 2010.

The Cameron County District Attorney's Office reported that the girl knew both Mireles and his wife Castellano.

The grand jury indicted both Mireles and his wife Castellano with sexual assault of a child an prohibited sexual conduct.

Mireles remains in custody under a $300,000 bond at the Cameron County Jail but is expected to be arraigned in the 103rd State District Court on September 12th.

Castellano remains in custody without a bond and an immmigration detainer.

She's expected to be arraigned in the 445th State District Court on the same day as her husband.
