A Brownsville father is facing criminal charges after leaving his baby inside an unlocked car while picking up another child at school.
Brownsville police arrested 30-year-old Nicolae Dobrota on a child abandonment with intent to return charge on Wednesday afternoon.
It all happened at Paredes Elementary School on the city TMs northside around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A Brownsville ISD security officer called police after seeing a small child in an unlocked car with the engine off.
Officers responded to the scene and spoke to Dobrota who said he was picking up his 5-year-old child at the school.
Investigators told Action 4 News that outside temperature was 88 to 90 degrees.
Paramedics checked out the baby and it was fine.
Both the baby and its sibling were turned over the custody of their mother.
Dobrota appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Thursday morning where he was issued a $15,000 dollar bond.
