Brownsville man accused of raping runaway teenage girl

A Brownsville man is behind bars after being accused of a raping a teenage girl who ran away from home.

Brownsville police arrested 42-year-old Jose Guadalupe Perez on Monday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the 14-year-old girl ran away from home back in March but the report was filed in July.

The girl told police that she had been staying at a home off Joann Street where she claims Perez raped here.

Authorities arrested Perez on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge at a home on Katy Lane on Monday.

Perez was held overnight at the Brownsville City Jail but is expected to be transferred to the Cameron County Jail.
