A Brownsville man is behind bars after being accused in a child rape case.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested 20-year-old Francisco Antonio Leija at the Gateway International Bridge on Sunday.
Leija was returning to the United States from Matamoros when customs officers ran a background check and learned he had a warrant for his arrest.
Investigators told Action News that Leija had been wanted for an continuous sexual assault of a child charge from Brownsville.
Leija remains in custody at the Brownsville City Jail where he TMs expected to be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
Investigators are not releasing further details until after Leija is arraigned.
