Brownsville man behind bars on multiple counts of sexual abuse

Brownsville resident pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child.
Judge Arturo Cisneros Nelson sentenced Israel Martinez after pleading guilty to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.
Martinez was charged with continuous abuse of a child and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
He has no opportunity for an early release from the sentence.
Martinez was also given 20 years for sexual assault and indecency with a child through contact.
According to documents obtained by Action 4 News, 52-year-old Martinez the abuse began when the victim was 7-years-old.
The sexual abuse continued for seven more years.
The victim made an outcry in September 2012.
Martinez confessed and pleaded guilty to the abuse.
Cameron County Assistant District Attorneys Stephanie Rollins and Brandy Bailey prosecuted the case.
We consider his accepting responsibility and pleading guilty a victory, Rollins said.
Martinez will concurrently serve his sentence.
