A Brownsville man is out on bond after he left an iPod filled with images of child pornography in the bathroom of a fast food restaurant.

Brownsville police booked 22-year-old Xavier Barac Lopez into the city jail just after 7 a.m. Thursday.

Records show that Lopez was charged on an outstanding warrant for possession of child pornography.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the manager of the Dairy Queen off Price and Paredes Line Roads found an iPod in the bathroom.

The manager looked on the iPod to see if there was any owner or identifying information but discovered images of children involved in sexual acts.

Lopez, an employee at the same restaurant, called and told the manager that he lost his iPod at work.

The manager called police, who obtained a warrant.

Investigators reported that the iPod had some 2,980 images but it's not clear if all of them were of child pornography.

Lopez was transferred to the Cameron County Jail on Thursday afternoon but was released after posting a $25,000 bond.

Court records show that Lopez was last listed as living off El Parque Street in northwest Brownsville and has a prior criminal history for burglary of a motor vehicle.
