Brownsville man jailed after botched attempt to "lure" teenage girl

A Brownsville man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly tried to "lure" a teenage girl just outside Pace High School.

Brownsville police arrested 26-year-old Francisco Plata on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that police officers were called to Los Ebanos Boulevard and East Drive just outside Pace High School.

A teenage girl told officers that she was walking home when a Plata tried to talk to her.

Plata allegedly made "indecent proposals" to the girl and grabbed her by the wrists.

The teenage girl screamed causing Plata to let go and allowing the girl to run away.

Officers found Plata nearby and arrested him on criminal solicitation of a minor and unlawful restraint charges.
