Brownsville man jailed for crow bar attack

A Brownsville man spent the weekend in jail for hitting another man in the head with a crow bar and then stabbing him.

Police said it happened Saturday night on Lemon Street, near the city TMs downtown.

According to the victim, Javier Fernando Pacheco, 23, sought him out as the man was visiting relatives.

Pacheco then attacked the victim, also 23 year of age, striking him in the head with the crow bar.

But after the victim fought back, police said Pacheco took out a pocketknife and stabbed the victim in the stomach.

Pacheco fled the area, but police caught up to him nearby and arrested him.

He was arraigned Sunday morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, among other things.

The victim was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
