Brownsville middle school students give back to the community
As the bell rings and students make their way out of class, the Louise Perkins Middle School Stallion Angels walk into the classroom to do their part in giving back to the community.
Louise Perkins Middle School teacher and club adviser Victor Ramirez says the 30-member club consists students from mostly low-income households.
“Bringing the change of mind to our neighborhood is probably our biggest need, particularly in our school,” Ramirez said.
Throughout the year, the Louise Perkins Middle School Stallion Angels organize and participate in several activities to help their community.
Ramirez says since starting the club, he has seen a change in characteristics and grade improvements with his students.
However, the biggest reward, students say, comes from the gift of giving without expecting.
