Brownsville mom arrested after boy found wandering barefoot, cold

      A Brownsville mother is facing criminal charges after her 2-year-old boy was found walking in the parking lot of Sunrise Mall barefoot and cold.

      Brownsville police charged 30-year-old Melynda Renee Galindo on a child abandonment with intent to return charge on Friday evening.

      A customer at the mall found Galindo's boy wandering barefoot in parking lot traffic in the cold and drizzling weather.

      According to a report, the boy was trembling and cold to the touch.

      The woman had extra socks and put them on the boy. She then took him inside Dillard's where she met police.

      Officer found Galindo who told officers she left her child inside the family car while she went inside Dillard's to exchange a pair of shoes.

      Bond information for Galindo was not immediately available but police have notified Child Protective Services about the incident.
