A Brownsville mother is facing criminal charges after police officers found her 2-year-old son walking on a busy street alone.

Brownsville police arrested 24-year-old Gloria Parra on child endangerment charges on Wendesday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called out to the 100 block of Billy Mitchell Boulevard around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

A concerned citizen called police after seeing the 2-year-old boy wandering on the street by himself.

Officers eventually found Parra at her home where said she was the boy's mother but didn't know her son had been missing.

Police turned the boy over to his grandparents' custody and notified Child Protective Services about the incident.

Parra appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Thursday morning where was issued a $5,000 dollar bond.
