Brownsville police believe shooting suspect fled to Mexico

Investigators believe a man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend five times may have fled to Mexico.
The shooting happened off Keith Lane on Friday evening.
Brownsville police said Victor Manuel Hernandez shot his ex-girlfriend Yazmin Reyes five times.
Reyes survived the attack but remains hospitalized.
Investigtors said Reyes' family had surveillance cameras that caught the whole incident on tape.
During a Wednesday morning press conference, Brownsville police said they believe Hernandez fled to Mexico.
Hernandez has family in Matamoros but police went to their house and did not find him there.
Investigators said both Hernandez and Reyes worked at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
Hernandez had recently graduated with a degree in criminal justice and was pursuing a master's degree.
Police said Hernandez had no criminal history but was having a difficult time with the couple's break up, which happened five or six months ago.
