All-clear given at Brownsville South Padre International Airport
UPDATE: The Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport has been given the all-clear after being evacuated on Monday morning.
Bryant Walker, the Director of the Airport, said a restaurant at the airport recently underwent some modifications and they believe the odor was coming from a sealant.
The fire department stated that the odor was coming from the sealant and was not actually gas.
We’ve learned that the Brownsville South Padre International Airport has been evacuated.
According to the City of Brownsville, the evacuation is due to a potential gas leak.
Bryant Walker, the Director of the Airport, said that the fire department is on scene with chemical detectors to find out what exactly it is and if there was a leak.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
Flights are currently not affected due to the evacuation as their next flight is not until 11:20 a.m. and it would be held off the terminal until they get the all clear.
