Behind a row of bushes on La Posada Drive in Brownsville sits 17-year-old Adrian Lara TMs home.
The home is where Brownsville Police tried serving Lara a warrant Wednesday afternoon.
When police arrived, the teen already left.
Police said they found Lara with a Bersa .380 Caliber handgun near the bushes behind his house.
A woman who did not want to be identified said she knows the teen and his family.
She said right before Lara left the house, he told his mom he would not be arrested.
The woman said Lara told his mom that if police did catch him, he may kill himself in jail.
After almost two hours, a negotiator convinced Lara to hand himself over to police.
Police said Lara did not threaten to hurt anyone.
They said they do not know if Lara may have wanted to hurt himself.
Lara is expected to be charged with deadly conduct and illegally carrying a weapon Thursday morning.
