A Brownsville woman is behind bars after she allegedly tried to smuggle more than 19 pounds of meth from Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Mireya Leija Marines on federal drug charges on Monday.
Marines drove up from Mexico at Brownsville's B&M International Bridge in a Ford truck.
Customs officers sent her to secondary inspection where authorities allegedly found 14 packages with 19.27 pounds of meth hidden inside.
Marines appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.
Court records show Marines in a Mexican national who lives in Brownsville.
Judge Morgan denied bond for Marines until a Friday morning hearing.
